I'd like to take a moment to share some thoughts with fellow Americans who are visiting my site. Even if you are not an American, this message could still apply to you: Often the world seems like a horrifically scary place, doesn't it?
We hear about school shootings, rape, kidnappings, acts of terrorism at home and abroad, and countless other frightening events. If you've ever watched the evening news or read the newspaper, you've undoubtedly been confronted with most types of evils in the world. And they do exist.

However, please remember that you're only seeing a small fraction of what the world is about. News agencies will show you what they want to show you, and this will be largely influenced by what will sell. Blood and fear sells. Put a seed of fear in the viewers' minds and they're yours. Take a moment and think about news bits you've heard on TV.Daily we hear things like "Could your water be killing you without you knowing it? An investigative report that could save your life, tonight at 11" and "Serial killer still on the loose - how to avoid becoming his next victim. A report you can't afford to miss." Of course, we also see the stories about car accidents, shootings, vandalism - you name it. It's all about fear. By listening to the media, you would wonder how anyone can live beyond 30 if the world is full of nothing but dangerous things. Remember that the vast majority of people in the world are not out to get you! Don't nuture the seeds of fear that people will try to plant in your mind.

Fear causes hatred, violence, impaired judgment, and most of all, more fear.

Make your decisions in life based on intellect and compassion. Oust fear from its role as a top influence.
If everyone could do this, we would be happier, and there would be less to fear.
